We construct our own complexity cages and then obediently step inside and close the door on ourselves. Once inside we curse and complain and stew in bitterness and even despair. 

  Often enough our friends, imprisoned in their own complexity cages, urge and encourage us into cages of our own. Society today certainly does. 

  What we have forgotten is that our hearts hold the key to unlocking the cage door. 

  Escaping the cage is as simple as finding the courage to reconnect with the authentic dictates of our own hearts. 

  But then again that is not always simple as our complexity cages are noisy and distracting.

  Long ago following the dictates of my own heart I left the cage of our public education system. 

  Again and again I’ve been urged and encouraged back inside by well-meaning friends and acquaintances and of course many of the books I’ve read and sometimes I have even fallen for it. 

  But always before the unhappiness can take deep root I find the key and step back outside into the fresh air and sunshine once more. 

  It’s as simple as that. 

  And I love simplicity.
