The hard logicians, meaning virtually us all given the widespread state of our universal educational system, dismiss myth as fictional fantasy and beneath their robust intelligence.

  But they are dead wrong.

And the irony is that unbeknownst to them the very foundational ground upon which their rational world view is built is… myth.

By myth I am referring to the use of a primordial experiential language that touches every one of us humans at a pre-verbal and pre-ideational level. Up and down, light and dark, sun and moon, water and caves, the birth trauma, mother and the breast, father, the mystery and magic of sex and reproduction, fire, storms, thunder, lightning and rain, heat and cold, the awesome enigma of death, plus many many more.

Humans have EXPERIENCED these realities from time immemorial. Literally millions of years! And their experiential meaning has been absorbed into the very fabric of our being.

Poets, prophets, seers, visionaries and shamans comprehend the power of this ‘mythic’ language woven into our genes and use it to move and instruct us, to orient us, to evoke energies within us, and to draw us together and weld us into groups who take on an organic life of their own.

Customs, rituals and religions are cunningly composed using this powerful means of communication at a psycho-spiritual stratum.

When all is said and done it is the underlying motivator and driver of who we are and what we do.

But the rationalists in their soul-dead devotion to concepts utterly ignore this Truth. They are frequently at odds with themselves and all their much vaunted ideas forever fall short of solving the challenges that face us today.

They utterly overlook the Power of Myth.
